Tunnel Construction PDF Print E-mail

A tunnel will only work well if it is correctly constructed. There are numerous factors to bear in mind. We will attempt to address some of these here.

  1. Is there a minimum size I should go for?
  2. Is there any specific requirement on the materials needed such as pipe specifications, weight, painted/galvanised?
  3. How much slope should the ground have?
  4. In what direction should the tunnel face? Does prevailing wind have an effect on the success of it?
  5. Is there a specific grade/brand of transparent covering that should be used? How well will this seal or bond?
  6. How far apart should tunnels be placed?
